About Us
Who are we?
We are a family run business, recently opened in the summer of 2022, bringing something fresh and new to the community of Tillicoultry, however hoping to expand in the future! The name “Penny Licks” comes from a traditional ice cream treat. The ‘Penny Lick’ was a small glass used for serving ice cream that was sold by street vendors in London throughout the 19th and 20th century. These glass cups of ice cream were sold for a penny and were licked clean and returned to the vendor to be re-used, hence the name ‘Penny Lick’!
Artisan Ice Creams
We pride ourselves on our freshly made ice creams. All of our award winning artisan ice creams are made on site, in what we like to call 'the factory'! We prioritise the quality of our product and the satisfaction of our customers above all else, with our wide range of ice cream flavours, constantly changing to suit our customers wants and needs!
Coffee!
As well as our ice creams, we also pride ourselves on our freshly made Franco Caffe Italian Blend coffees, ranging from iced coffee to decaf and peppermint tea. Whether you're coming to grab a coffee before work or you're wanting to visit our café for tea and a cake, we provide well made drinks for every occasion!
Why stop there?
On top of our ice creams and wide variety of drinks, we also have both sweet and savoury foods on offer to eat in or take away! Ranging from our sweet Belgian waffles, to our homemade strawberry tarts baked fresh every morning, to our savoury panini‘s and our homemade salad baguettes, perfect for the summer!
Awards!
After only a year in business, we are proud to announce we are now the holders of 3 Highland Show Awards for our artisan ice cream! After a challenging first year, we received 1 Silver Award, and 2 Bronze Awards at the Scottish Dairy Championships, at the Highland Show 2023!
